Import Error

Hi All,

When import fails due to some reason, the error is not descriptive enough to debug in 11G. It just says XML error. I wanted to know is it same for every one or specific to me( should i apply some patch) . Thanks in advance.

Thanks,
Ashok

Whatever exception classes are defined by oracle is same for everyone . You cannot modify them.

    Hi Bhabani,

Thanks for the response. In 10G we could see error description which will direct us toward some SNP table which will help us in identifying the type of object atleast.Where as in 11G it just says xml error with no other details.

    Thanks,
    Ashok

Provide some examples and the error related to it. But definitely the error is same for everyone :) .

    ok. Say i have a procedure A under a Folder B in Repository 1.

i tired to promote procedure A from Repository 1 to Repostiory 2. Repository 2 doesnt have the folder B, so the import will fail as i am importing in Synonym insert/update mode.

    Error in 10G:
SnpFolder.getObjectByident : SnpFolder doesnot exist. (By looking at this we can easily identify the issue)

    Error in 11G:
Import File: "A.xml" error. (We have no other info on the error).

For demonstartion purpose i have taken a simple example :). But if at all we face this kind of error it is time consuming to identify the issue.

    Thanks,
    Ashok
