i have Oracle R12.1.1 installed on OEL (Virtual machine; guest OS) which is on a Windows 7 (host) machine.
i am not able to connect to R12 VIS DB from the host.
i tried to TELNET to guest machine ip and DB port but it failed.
so looks like there is some networking issue which i am having hard time to resolve.
i could able to TELNET from host to FTP port at guest. that works but not able to TELNET to DB port which is 1521.
any help would be great.
Please also see these links to enable telnet/ftp.
i think it's not disabled.
but i have allowed incoming traffic into guest OS at port 1521.
so should not be an issue.
i tried to disable the firewall using the command given in,
but getting error "Command not found."
i am able to FTP to the guest machine from host. that is working fine. so firewall is definitely open for FTP PORT 22.
actually i am not able to connect to the VIS DB in guest machine from host machine.
VIS DB is up and i am able to connect to DB within the guest machine.
but from Host, i am not able to connect.
so as part of debugging, i am trying to telnet from HOST to guest at DB port at 1521 which is failing.
you are correct. the firewall is causing the issue.
although i had opened the DB port in guest OS but somehow that is not working.
so i completely disabled the firewall and that seems to be working.
for now i am good. i could able to connect the VIS DB in the guest machine from host machine.
will investigate why individual port opening not working.
thanks a lot.
