but somewhere else. Do not forget you applet is in a fragment, and the <tt>document</tt> reference applies to the whole page. I would advise to use Firebug or Chrome's native facilities to inspect the DOM and ensure you got the appropriate reference to you applet.

signing the Jar and downloading the certificate permanently does not change anything in Firefox. The Java console keeps giving the above exception.
