In one of the database, ard 25 datafiles got corrputed including system and undo and sysaux datafiles. But we have control file and on line redolog files. No, if the control file is current, not backup.
We have full back up and incremental back up taken recently.
We have connected the database to rman and
We gave the following command.
do we need to open the database with reset logs after recover database.
We have both level 0 and level 1 backup coompleted. we have both the backups.
As of now restore is in progress.
Is it restoring from level 0 or level 1.
If it is level 0 .. is it something we need to restore the level 1 backup also.
Recover database command will update the datafile from incremebtal backup
will take care of it.
Can you clarify it.
When restoring incremental backups, RMAN uses the level 0 backup as the starting point, then updates changed blocks based on level 1 backups where possible to avoid reapplying changes from redo one at a time. Recovering with incremental backups requires no additional effort on your part. If incremental backups are available, then RMAN uses them during recovery.
Hopefully you DB is up and running now...
I just wanted to point out something to all, who do not frequently do recovery and are like you a little unsure what the best recovery strategy is:
Oracle 11.2 database introduced the recovery advisor, which will help you find the optimal recovery strategy, and will also tell you if you will suffer data loss or a complete recovery is possible:
