Hi all,

I have following sequence of command for creating spfile from pfile.
SQL> shutdown immediate;

SQL> startup nomount pfile='/u01/app/oracle/admin/PRIMARY/pfile/initPRIMARY.ora';

SQL>create spfile from pfile='/u01/app/oracle/admin/PRIMARY/pfile/initPRIMARY.ora';

-- Restart the Primary database using the newly created SPFILE.

SQL>shutdown immediate;

SQL>Startup;
Above is the one way to create spfile from pfile.

What if I performe the following way
startup pfile ='/u01/app/oracle/admin/PRIMARY/pfile/initPRIMARY.ora';

create spfile from pfile;
what are the difference between above two ways of create spfile from pfile and which one is better.
