Sure you can. I don't recall any recommendations one way or the other, this is one of those flexible things that doesn't matter in the end. It all works in one, so what is your motivation for using a second instance?
You can have as many installations of GoldenGate on a server as you see fit, and each will have it's own Manager that needs to be configured with a different PORT from the other installations. I use this for small VM images where I simulate a source and target server by installing OGG into a source and target folder on the same server.
Since you mention VM, installing VirtualBox with the OTN Developer Days version is pretty easy, and all it takes after powering on the system is to install GoldenGate. Create another database and run bi-directional replication.
As in my case there r three server involved.i.e(ServA, ServB, SerC)
i have to replicate the some tables in this flows.
1.ServA to ServB
2. ServB to ServC
Now i think there is a lot of data. and i just want the two different process managers one for Replication process & one for Extraction process for load performance.
is there any document for configure two different Process manager on same server.
manager does not contribute much when it come to performance. You must be creating more extracts and replicats under same manager to deal with performance issues. Anyway, there can be only one manager per instance.
but in this case ServA replicate on Serv B. (in which ServA is source & ServB is target) and the same time
now ServB will become source & ServC will become traget. my question is that can one server can b act like source & target same time....mean same server have Extract process as well as Replicate processs???
any way thanks you all
Yes, one instance (installation) of OGG can contain both Extracts and Replicats, and Pumps. There is no restriction to what components are installed for that installation, only a restriction on how many, which is like 5000 components under 11.2 version of OGG.
