    Static IP configuration

    989549
      Hi All
      i Have a local server (Windows 2008 server) with oracle 11g
      it works fine in the LAN
      listener.ora
      LISTENER =
      (DESCRIPTION =
      (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = Server)(PORT = 1521))
      )
      tnsnames.ora
      ORCL =
      (DESCRIPTION =
      (ADDRESS_LIST =
      (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = Server)(PORT = 1521))
      )
      (CONNECT_DATA =
      (SERVER = DEDICATED)
      (SERVICE_NAME = ORCL)
      )

      Now we have Static IP on the server and should be configured to be accessed remote

      when adjusting client listener to have the HOST as the IP it give NO LISTENER Error

      the firewall is diabled
      even the lan computers can't access the server if its listener adjusted to the IP
      i can ping the server with the ip
      but tnsping give no listener
      what configuration should be done to the server and the clients to allow remote access
      thank you
      )

          lsnrctl stop

          next move, remove, rename, delete the listener.ora file; since it is NOT required to start or use listener

          lsnrctl start

          -- wait 60+ seconds

          lsnrctl status
          lsnrctl service

          COPY commands & results from above; then PASTE all back here

                it is working but with no host as you noticed
                or with host =server

                  so what is wrong with the listener now?

                          OS/Networking is mis-configured at the OS level.
                          Oracle is the victim; not the culprit.
                          Root cause & fix occurs at OS level.

                          complete OS networking confirmation can be done with 8 different ping commands

                          ping <own_hostname>
                          ping <own_IP#>
                          ping <other_hostname>
                          ping <other_IP#>

                          Now issue same commands from the other system

                            now the server moved to a remote location and the clients should be able to work with oracle by static ip

                                here the story
                                it was a lan that works fine
                                now the server moved to a remote location and the clients should be able to work with oracle by static ip
                                since there is no network connection between server and client
                                if network connection between client & server does NOT exist, then you can't get there from here.

                                You're On Your Own since you insist on obfuscating reality
