            Now looking to apply Jan 2013 PSU patch 14727310.
            Run the pre-check "CheckConflictAgainstOHWithDetail" and get:
            Conflicts/Supersets for each patch are:

            Patch : 14727310

            Conflict with 13004894
            Conflict details:
            xxx/db/tech_st/11.2.0/lib/libserver11.a:/qke.o
            xxx/db/tech_st/11.2.0/lib/libserver11.a:/qke.o

            Bug Superset of 13001379
            Super set bugs are:
            +13001379+

            Bug Superset of 9858539
            Super set bugs are:
            +9858539+

            OPatch succeeded.

            From ID 1321267.1 and the live forum it looks like I would:
            1. Roll back 13004894
            2. Download newer version of 13004894 and apply. Question is which version do I select.  My DB is an unpatched 11203 install (ie. no CPU/PSU's yet).
            3. Apply the latest PSU 14727310
            4. Perform the post install steps mentioned in the PSU readme.

                Yah that makes sense (not sure why I would have thought otherwise...).
                At any rate I was able to:
                -> opatch rollback -id 13004894
                -> download 11203 linux_x86_64 version of 13004894
                -> opatch apply 13004894

                But I find I am back to my previous conflict - "opatch prereq CheckConflictAgainstOHWithDetail -ph ./" telling me I have a conflict (same as previous post).

                Here's the whole output at the end it does say "opatch succeeded" and maybe I just need to re-read the guide to know what errors I can ignore.
                I do see where it says these patches will be rolled back "13004894, 13001379, 9858539" so am I ok to proceed?

                Invoking prereq "checkconflictagainstohwithdetail"

                ZOP-47: The patch(es) has supersets with other patches installed in the Oracle Home (or) among themselves.

                ZOP-40: The patch(es) has conflicts with other patches installed in the Oracle Home (or) among themselves.

                Prereq "checkConflictAgainstOHWithDetail" failed.

                  If you are applying 11.2.0.3.5 PSU patch, you do not have to reapply 13004894. Pl see this MOS Doc

                    As per https://updates.oracle.com/download/13004894.html Patch 13004894 is included in (Patch 14727310 -- DATABASE PATCH SET UPDATE 11.2.0.3.5 (INCLUDES CPUJAN2013)). So, if you are applying 14727310 then you can skip Patch 13004894

                      Thanks Srini. So I will rollback that patch again to apply the PSU.
                      Question tough - Is patch 13004894 then classified as an overlay patch? I believe I initially applied it as part of my 11207 to 11203 db upgrade.

                        It is required as an "additional 11.2.0.3 RDBMS patches" which is mentioned in (Interoperability Notes EBS 12.0 and 12.1 with Database 11gR2 [ID 1058763.1]).

                          I don't seem to be able to figure out how to reply with posters comments so trying this:
                          --------------
                          As per https://updates.oracle.com/download/13004894.html Patch 13004894 is included in (Patch 14727310 -- DATABASE PATCH SET UPDATE 11.2.0.3.5 (INCLUDES CPUJAN2013)). So, if you are applying 14727310 then you can skip Patch 13004894

                          ------------

                          Now if I look at that url, to me it says "Prerequisite for Patch 13004894 is 14727310". Which is sort of the opposite of what I think it should say as it suggests I need PSU patch 14727310 'before' I can apply 13004894.
                          I don't want to waste anyone's time debating this is just doesn't read right to me.
                          For my purposes I just won't apply 13004894 as part of my DB upgarde since I just roll it back anyway when doing the Jan 2013 PSU.

                            Looks like there are various versions of patch 13004894. Apply PSU 11.2.0.3.5, then apply 13004894 for version 11.2.0.3.5.

                              As you see from the link referenced above, the 11.2.0.3.5 version of Patch 13004894 is already included in (Patch 14727310 -- DATABASE PATCH SET UPDATE 11.2.0.3.5 (INCLUDES CPUJAN2013)), so your approach is right.

                                  Where are you seeing that 13004894 is included in PSU 11.2.0.3.5 ? The link above (https://updates.oracle.com/download/13004894.html) states that 11.2.0.3.5 is a pre-req for the 11.2.0.3.5 version of 13004894 - this is also stated in the README for 13004894.

                                  Looks like Oracle released a merge patch - https://updates.oracle.com/download/16084707.html

                                  Thanks

                                  Edit - added the merge patch link

                                    For some reason the link was showing the patch is superseded by another patch (included in the PSU patch) and now it shows as a pre-req.

                                    Apologies for this confusion but I guess it is something to do with the link I accessed first time which is bookmarked in my browser and I have not checked since then.
