    printable invoices from apex

    prog
      Hi again,
I need to design an invoice template then print it after we take the data from the fields in my application. my team informed me that we can't do this with apex and we need another tool beside it. I am sure you've gone through this before creating orders and invoices then print it. please advice

I am using Application Express 4.0.2.00.09

      Thank you
      Beena

Can you afford BI Publisher? Then you can generate (print) Invoices from an APEX application.. Can install a 3rd party reporting tool to develop the layouts? They you could use PL_JRXML2PDF.. It use Ireport for a visual report developer and allows you to store the report layout in Oracle tables for printing via an APEX application.. (http://sourceforge.net/p/pljrxml2pdf/wiki/Home/)..

So yes, in a way APEX can't do invoice printing, but add on products can help APEX do this..

          Thank you,

                Dear Paul,

As BIP is expensive, I recommend Jasper

What is the best tool after BIP?

Not a big fan of the name, but I have seen the product and considering its free (open source) sure beats the price of BI Publisher...

+1 to Jasper. Dietmar wrote a great package to integrate it APEX. Been using it with no problem.

I never had chance to integrate APEX with BI Publisher given it costs arm and leg to clients, but Jasper is great alternative.

                          Hi Beena,

i have best experiences with PL/PDF. It's very esay to install and you only have to have skills in PL/SQL that's it.

                          Best regards,
                          Martin

If you want to use Jasper along with PL-jrxml2pdf (the tool with the ugly name ;) ), then you only need the iReport-Designer, which is a complete install-package.
