I need to upgrade my current version of oracle database 220.127.116.11 to 18.104.22.168 on windows 03 platform.
I am doing patching for the first time. Appreciate if you can provide me some links, I know readme doc is also there along with the patch but still.
At a high level, you will need to
1. Download and install 22.214.171.124 (which is a full install) into a new ORACLE_HOME
2. Apply the latest PSU patch to 126.96.36.199
3. Upgrade the database following the steps in the Upgrade Guide (using DBUA)

I am following the steps that you have mentioned in here using DBUA. There is one more while upgrading the oracle database, Oracle is asking me to turn off the archive log mode of the database. Do I have to trun off the archive log mode or I have to keep it as it is.
One more thing. which is the most preferred method for upgrading in case of a averages size of database.
It is recommended to turn off archivelog mode for the duration of the upgrade, but it is not required.
DBUA is the recommended/preferred method - what is your definition of 'average' ? 10Gb ? 10Tb ? 10Pb ?
