Is it helpful?
It is not helpful, I mean, it doesn't solve my problem. But nice post!
What I have is the following:
What I want is the following:
R1|--123--|--345--|--678--|--(($2-$1) / ($1) ) *100)
the column results must remain in the same format, but the calculated item must be in the format %9.99 (to see the percentage change)
any other suggestions?
Anyone some suggestions? Isn't my question clear enough?
Try using CAST(Field as FLOAT) in the the numerator or denominator of the formula field. Let me knowif this works
Thanks for the try, but it doesn't work. CAST is not allowed in a calculated item in a pivot (unknown function)
Try using the formula in the criteria tab. Either create a new column with this calculation or use in the same column.
Are you able to solve this problem?
coz i am facing the same....please provide me the solution if you are able to solve.
Hi I have tried it in one of my request:
hope it will help:
My request was that % change on amount sold.
1st created one logical column by going into the BMM layer and duplicating and rename it as change of amount sold.
2nd right click it calculation wizard
3rd check for % change
it will show the precentage change.
try it out in your reprot.
Hope it will helpful
Thanks for the reply but , i here i am using Pivot table and creating new calculated item for getting % change.
------------------- | date1 | date 2 | date 3 | ( new calculated item (date1 ($1) - date3($3) ) | new calculated item ( % of change)

From the formula you provided looks like you are trying to calculate variance percentage.
Instead of doing it in the "calculated item" of the pivot. you can simply do it in answers by creating the same formula in the column formula. I implemented the same using it, we can even provide the number of decimals that we need to display after the percentage calc in the data format tab of the new column(Variance %).
Let me know if this is not your case
hope it helps
Hi Prash, thanks for reply but here i am dealing with rows not the columns ...
the dates provided there are the values ( rows ) in the column as_of_date
please let me know, how to calculate the variance for rows with required dataformat
Any solution for this problem?
