Hi

I am a new Oracle Apps DBA. I want to be certified.
Can you guide me about which certification I should begin with to be a certified APPS DBA.
I checked oracle website but got confused with so many certification available.

Regards,
Charan

    While searching myself I have found out 1Z0-051(Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I) to be the basic certification to be an APPS DBA, but one of my senior APPS DBA suggested me taking 1Z0-047 (Oracle Database SQL Expert)

    Still I m confused

    Hopefully you've been checking http://certification.oracle.com which is the authorative information source:

    Looking at the view all certififcations page, currently:

    http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=632

    The following certifications are the primary targets of a core DBA:
    Oracle Database 11g Administrator Certified Associate
    Oracle Database 11g Administrator Certified Professional

    ( Very exceptionally Oracle Database 11g Certified Implementation Specialist could be argued as a lightweight alternative for the above .... but the term is lightweight and it might not be universally respected ... but it is a possible quick win).

    For an EBS apps dba the following certifcations seems directly relevant:
    Oracle E-Business Suite R12 System Administrator Certified Expert
    Oracle E-Business Suite R12 Applications Database Administrator Certified Professional ( But Oracle Database 11g Administrator Certified Professional is a pre-requisite!)
    ... Other certifcations in the Applications Section could also be relevant (check topics)

    You might also currently find the following certifcations also of interest, depending on your exact role:
    Oracle Database SQL Certified Expert ( This is achieved via the 1z0-047 arguably a distraction from another certification where 1z0-051 should be a quicker win).
    Oracle PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate ( This would almost certainly be a distraction for most people from other certifications)

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Overall from this probably the first target certfication would be:
    - Oracle Database 11g Administrator Certified Associate.
    The two relevant SQL exam for this are, as you have found 1z0-051 or 1z0-047. These would normally be achieved first:
    The 1z0-047 vs 1z0-051 is recurrently debated on this forum: In general 1z0-051 should be quicker to achieve, 1z0-047 will be a harder and longer challenge and may distract and lengthen the time you take to get 11g DBA OCA.
    Please note that while a core dba I am not an applications DBA so my knowledge of that area should be far sketchier than yours.
