Did you source the environment files before launching sql plus and sql* loader.

Even if you can't find sql and sql*loader after sourcing the environment file, please post the output of

          $echo $PATH
          $echo $ORACLE_HOME

          Thanks

                Thank you for the reply.
Sorry but after reading E12841-04 I am still unclear on how CONTEXT_NAME works.

And follow your recomendation "Please source the database env file -- Under Database $ORACLE_HOME --> <CONTEXT_NAME>.env"

                Thanks,

                  Manny,

Under your RDBMS $ORACLE_HOME you should find an env file (issue "ls -l *.env" command) and you need to run this env file before you use any of the database executable files.

Please issue "echo $ORACLE_HOME" and "which sqlplus" to verify if your env file was sourced properly or not.

                  Thanks,
                  Hussein

We do not set ORACLE_HOME explicitly, the environment file which Hussein mentioned sets it for you. (To make the utilities run properly we have to set many other variables like PATH, LD_LIBRARY_PATH ...etc. All these environment variables will be set when you source/run the environment file).

                            [oracle@stevenr1211 bin]$ pwd

                            /d01/oracle/VIS/db/tech_st/11.1.0/bin

If you set ORACLE_HOME you might get some other error message. So it is better to let environment file set all those varibales for you.
                            So, please do the following

                            [oracle@stevenr1211 ~]$ cd /d01/oracle/VIS/db/tech_st/11.1.0/
                            [oracle@stevenr1211 ~]$. VIS_stevenr1211.env
Note there is adot above, and it is read as (dot space VIS_stevenr1211.env)
                            [oracle@stevenr1211 ~]$sqlplus apps/<put your apps password here>
