ASM does not depend of Listener to work.

If you bring down Listener where ASM service is running you will be unable to connect on ASM remotely. (Oracle Enterprise Manager aka "DBControl or Grid Control" connect on ASM remotely).

            Hi,

You can connect to ASM remotely.
You can use EM to manage ASM.
what happens if we bring down the asm listener.
            To My Understanding,
Nothing but you cannot connect to ASM remotely.
You cannot use EM to manage ASM.

            Regards,

              there is no "ASM listener".
              There is just a listener.
It listens for requests to connect to services.
Some of those services are database instances.
One of those services is the ASM instance.
Given that the ORACLE_HOME for both databases and GI has the binaries for a listener, it is typical in this environment to run the listener out of the GI ORACLE_HOME.

I would add that the ONLY listener running should be the GI ORACLE_HOME listener according to documentation.
