    Select list padding

      See https://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=57688:16 using Theme 24

      The reason X3 is a few pixels below X1 and X2 is the following snippet (specifically margin-top ) in themes/theme_24/css/4_1.css
      table.formlayout td select.selectlist {
          margin-bottom: 7px;
          margin-left: 0;
          margin-right: 0;
          margin-top: 6px;
      }
      What's the point of adding the margin-top/bottom to select lists which causes them to be mis-aligned with the rest of the page items on the row when Labels are set to show Above the item?

      Thanks

          Could you add an equivalent row with labels to the left of the items for comparison?

              Looks OK in:

              <li>OS X Mountain Lion: Safari 6, Chrome 25

              Looks rubbish in:

              <li>OS X Mountain Lion: Firefox 18
              <li>Oracle Linux: Firefox 3 (umm, maybe I should update that...)
              <li>Windows XP: IE8
              <li>Windows 7: IE 9/10; Firefox 18; Opera 12
              <li>iPad iOS 5: Safari

                Nope. Just as baffling in theme 24 as it was in theme 23: +{message:id=9831296}+

                Same advice as then: override it if you don't like it.

                  Thanks, I missed that thread.

                  Baffling is right. In a HTML table based layout, things line up naturally, one has to really go out of the way to mess it up and, for some as yet inexplicable reason, the Oracle APEX team has done just that. It would be great if someone on the team can help us understand the rationale behind these CSS choices.

                  Since Theme 23+ are part of the recommended, modern themes that ship with the product, I am surprised that more people are not complaining about this.

                  You are right, of course. But I find myself getting annoyed by these silly CSS snippets to compensate for (seemingly) daft choices made by Oracle. Oh well.

                  Thanks for jumping in.
