    DIFFERENCE BETWEEN KEY-LISTVAL & SHOWLOV

    MoHaMeD.Ali
      hello all ...

      i have two cases

      1- i have lov that return its value to text item
      and the property " list of values " from the property palette for the item is null
      i can display the lov with button its code contain " showlov('lovname') "

      2- i can display also the lov from the button with
      go_item(text_item)
      Do_Key('List_Values');

      and on the text_item's key-listval trigger
      list_values;
      but the property " list of values " from the property palette for the item has the assigned lov

      in the two cases the lov displayed and worked well
      But what is the difference between the two cases

      thanks alot

          Following these simple guidelines will ensure you have a positive experience in any forum; not just this one!

          Noe come to your point.
          SHOW_LOV Built-in
          Displays a list of values (LOV) window at the given coordinates, and returns TRUE if the operator selects a value from the list,
           and FALSE if the operator Cancels and dismisses the list.
          and
          LIST_VALUES Built-in
          LIST_VALUES displays the list of values for the current item, as long as the input focus is in a text item that has an attached LOV.
           The list of values remains displayed until the operator dismisses the LOV or selects a value.
          By default, LIST_VALUES uses the NO_RESTRICT parameter.
          This parameter causes Oracle Forms not to use the automatic search and complete feature.
          If you use the RESTRICT parameter, Oracle Forms uses the automatic search and complete feature.

            The second case also worka when you use the keyboard to show the lov (CTRL-L or F9, depending on your forms-version.
