We have ovmm (3.1.1) installed on an OL 5U8 host with an AD/LDAP oracle account. The oracle account's home folder is in /home/pwc/oracle. We are unable to apply the the Oracle VM Manager 3.1.1-544 patch:
1) when we try to apply 3.1.1-544 patch, i.e. runUpgrader.sh, we get "Oracle VM Manager is not running.." although ovmm is indeed running.
2) When we check the status of ovmm, we get "Oracle VM Manager is not running.." although ovmm is indeed running.
i.e. # service ovmm status
Oracle VM Manager is not running..
*ovmm is indeed running.
Note: a glance at /etc/init.d/ovmm shows the offending line:
ps auxww | grep "$JAVAPATH" | grep -v "grep" 2>&1 > /dev/null
if [ "$RETVAL" -eq 0 ]; then
echo "Oracle VM Manager is running..."
echo "Oracle VM Manager is not running..."
Thank you in advance for your support!
user12273962, thank you for your assistance.
We are running the upgrade as root, although the oracle account is not a local user account, its an AD account. Likewise is being used for the AD piece.
We reckon that the issue is related to the oracle account not being a local account, but it might be a different environmental issue.
The oracle vm manager host was installed and secured following the customers standards. We are trying to determine if its an environmental issue causing the "status Oracle VM Manager is not running" status even when ovmm is indeed running.
