Apex 4.2 installation problem

Hi friends,

I tried to install apex 4.2 version in my windows 7 machine. For that i installed DB 11g Enterprise Edition.

After that i started to install the apex 4.2 by following the below steps.

<li> i extracted the apex zip directory in my D drive, after that in my cmd prompt i went into my apex location in my drive and connected to my db and executed the script like
@apexins.sql SYSAUX SYSAUX TEMP /i/
<li> After it is successfully completed without any error i run the below script inorder to change the admin pwd.
@apxchpwd.
<li>To Load the image directory in apex for that i ran the below script like
@apxldimg D:\
<li> After that I Opened the HTTP/FTP port for accessing images directory of the application and accessing the application using the browser

For that i executed the below query like
Select dbms_xdb.gethttpport from dual;
It returned returned zero, so i executed the below script to set the port
BEGIN
DBMS_XDB.SETHTTPPORT('8080');
DBMS_XDB.SETFTPPORT('2100');
END;
Finally i unlocked and resetted all those apex users which is created as a part of installation.

After that when i tried to open the apex admin link like below

http://localhost:8080/apex

It prompted me for a XDB username and pwd as well as database system username and pwd in a pop-up box. After i gave that the page is keep on loading and the apex admin page is not loading.

Im not sure what is the problem, whether i missed any steps as a part of installation.

Since it is windows machine so the apex will use the IAS server which is present in windows machine or else i need install the http server in my machine for the successful installation. Im stuck now.

Kindly guide me friends,

Regards.

    Hi,

    Do you mean you e.g. unlock APEX_040200 and FLOWS_FILES user ? Where in install instructions you did find that is needed?

    Hi Jari,

    Sorry i was back to APEX nearly a year gap, in which i dint tried my hands on installation.

    Im not sure whether the three APEX users needs to be opened inorder for the APEX to work. Since i referred a manual document from my teammates in which inturn they mentioned of unlocking the APEX users, that's why i mentioned it in my installation steps in my previous post.

    Whether is unlocking the APEX users is mandatory???(as a part of installation).

    Really nice to get a reply from U after a long gap.

    Regards,

    Hi,

    You need unlock only database user with is used for DAD.
    I understand you are using EPG so you need only unlock ANONYMOUS.

    If you use OHS or APEX listener then you unlock APEX_PUBLIC_USER.

    Hi jari,

    Im not sure about the EPG server that im using, since i stalled APEX 4.2 in windows 7 assuming that IAS server will tc of APEX.

    Is u related EPG to IAS or in windows whether EPG will be coming defaultly with it.

    Hi,

    I do not have any knowledge of MS products. But I'm 100% sure you do not IAS with APEX.

    And what you have post, you did set EPG (Embed PL/SQL Gateway) port to 8080.
    Also in URL what you did post, you use that 8080 port.

    Hi Jari,

    Sorry if my question is wrong..

    As a part of my installation i followed the below steps like
    i executed the below query like

    Select dbms_xdb.gethttpport from dual;

    Above query returned returned zero, so i executed the below script to set the port

    BEGIN
    DBMS_XDB.SETHTTPPORT('8080');
    DBMS_XDB.SETFTPPORT('2100');
    END;
    so i have setted the XDB Port, so setting that xdb port refers to EPG port

    Also if u have any APEX installation steps docs in linux(of any server), kindly share with me in which it will be useful for my understanding on different OS(of other server other than XDB or EPG)

    Thanks

    Regards,
    Mini
