0509-150  Dependent module libclntsh.a(shr.o) could not be loaded, Plz Help

    DBA2013
      Hi experts,

      I have upgraded from 9.2.0.8 to 11.1.0.7.

When AS tries to connect the database, It gives error as:

0509-150 Dependent module libclntsh.a(shr.o) could not be loaded.
      0509-022 Cannot load module libclntsh.a(shr.o).
0509-026 System error: A file or directory in the path name does not exist.

      Later it gave this error:

0509-150 Dependent module /fs/oracle_home/product/11.1.0/db_1/lib/libclntsh.a(shr.o) could not be loaded.
0509-103 The module has an invalid magic number.
      ===================================================================
      What I checked is:

      Checked if files are present:

      cfca001x-new:/fs/oracle_home/product/11.1.0/db_1/lib > ls -ltr libclntsh.a
      -rwxrwxrwx 1 oracle dba 44205412 06 mar 10:28 libclntsh.a

      cfca001x-new:/fs/oracle_home/product/11.1.0/db_1/lib32 > ls -ltr libclntsh.a
      -rwxrwxrwx 1 oracle dba 40255865 06 mar 10:28 libclntsh.a
      ===============================================
Checked if it is 32bit or 64 bit libararies on 64 bit AIX
      -----------------------------------------------------------
      cfca001x-new:/fs/oracle_home/product/11.1.0/db_1/lib > ar -X64 -t libclntsh.a
      shr.o

      cfca001x-new:/fs/oracle_home/product/11.1.0/db_1/lib > ar -X32 -t libclntsh.a

      Yields nothing..

      cfca001x-new:/fs/oracle_home > getconf -a | grep KERN
      KERNEL_BITMODE: 64

Checked if directories (lib and lib32) are present: Yes they are : So it looks 64 bit ..Hope I am right.

      cfca001x-new:/fs/oracle_home/product/11.1.0/db_1 > cd lib32
      cfca001x-new:/fs/oracle_home/product/11.1.0/db_1/lib32 > cd ..

              Everything worked as per expectation.

Even I applied the latest patch for 11.1.0.7.12 over it.

But I don't know where I am wrong.

Only ONE THING IS THERE, 9.2.0.8 HOME IS STILL intact in this sense, my ORACLE_BASE For both 9i and 11g homes are same. I am still to detach the old home.

                Osama Sir,

I had checked both the links earlier, however I took a different step in my scenario after finding few more details from other links.

Sir, When I upgraded 9.2.0.8, I didn't relink or clean my Oracle HOME, 9i home is still intact, though no relevant at the moment. (Sir this upgrade was simple 11gR1 Installation and then import of 9i dump)

I copied from my old home "lib32" folder to my 11g HOME, after taking its own lib32 backup.

Before Giving , I wanted to confirm,

If this tactics is ok or it may impact anything?
Do I need to run relink all from my 11g home or it is not needed?
Is it only lib32 or I should also copy lib from old home to new home?

All this I am doing after getting another error: MAGIC Number is wrong....and my all libraries are 64bit ..checked my old one home and found them 32bit..

                Thanks,

Pl post the complete export and import commands used, along with the first 20 lines of the export and import log files.
I copied from my old home "lib32" folder to my 11g HOME, after taking its own lib32 backup.
Why was this required ? Pl post a link to the document that you followed for this process ?

                  This is typically not necessary.
Is it only lib32 or I should also copy lib from old home to new home?
Again, pl post a link to an official document that states this copy is required.

                    Srini Sir,

                    I'm sorry for the misinterpretation.

                    My OS is AIX5L

                    My OS/ Kernal is 64bit

My libraries are 64bit (under both lib32/lib directories).

I did a simple import with full=y command nothing special I did in it.

Everything went ok...11gR1 is up and running with all these libraries present under the correct location.

I didnt attach my old home, It is still there, when I checked the libraries of my 9i home, I found them 32 bit, so thought of copying this lib32 directories to my 11gR1 home after taking backup of 11gR1 lib32 directory.

I got this copy idea though wrongly understood by me from "https://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=593737".

Now I am planning to create a soft link from 9i home which will point to 11g home library file what do you say about that.

Please help me out if you feel there is something I should do?

                    Thanks,

If you are stating that you did not follow the standard install process for the 11gR1 software, then I would suggest you re-install the 11gR1 software per the official Install Guide and try again

No Sir, I didnt say that.

                        Here is what I did.

                        1. I took a full export of 9i database.
                        2. Shut it down.
3.I installed the 11.1.0.6 software on : /fs/oracle_home/product/11.1.0/db_1 and then upgraded it to 11.1.0.7 by apply a patchset.
My old home was installed here : /fs/oracle_home/product/920

                        4. Imported the dump in 11gR1.

                        5. checked the dba_registry components and ran the ultrp.sql

                        6. Got the current statistics etc
                        ==================================

Was there anything else I should have done.

Not clear why the import says connected to "9.2.0.8" - should it not be "11.1.0.7" ? The "possible charset conversion" message is also ominous - this indicates that the correct NLS_LANG variable was not set before exp or imp, or both.

Going back to your 11gR1 install, have you re-installed the software as per the Install Doc (without copying any files as you noted) ?

Here is my Profile set , Please check sir if I am forgetting something here.

Even I realize it should be 11R1 rather than 9iR2, but I am helpless to say, I had my profile set properly before shooting this command..I too have NLS_LANG defined( that shouldnt be a problem, becoz i could see the same msg highlighted in other 11gR1 import).
Not sure what you mean by your statement - you should not ignore the "possible charset conversion" errors. The NLS_LANG variable must match the characterset of the database, in most cases, before the export and import commands are invoked.
Here is my Profile set , Please check sir if I am forgetting something here.

                                  These settings look reasonable.
