Thanks Denes, Also, in a classic report, we have the option to hyperlink a column and then call another page. In that we can also set a value for an item. Can we set the value for an APEX Global item? which is defined through Setups -> Application Items? I thought I will use a global item rather than a local page item.

So in that link option for the column, when I pop up the search window, it shows all items. Now the page items are hyperlink while the application items are not. So IF I am hyperlinking that column in page 1 report to call page 2. I can see all page 2 items hyperlinked in the search window.
Should I just paste the application item name PERIOD and populate it with #PERIOD#?
