I tried the resolution provided on the URL but everything seems setup correctly.
I have just installed the client. the only error message is "configuration error". where can I find the error log?
This is the "shortcut" of the admin tool launch
"C:\Program Files\Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition Plus Client\oraclebi\orahome\bifoundation\server\bin\bi_init.bat" coreapplication admintool.exe
Please note that I have installed only client on my machine and created DSN for a remote server.
Would you please let me know what version of obiee you are using?
what is your operating system(64-bit)??
can you try to de install and re install it once again!!
you can findfrom
I am trying to install OBIEE client 188.8.131.52. I have Windows 7 64 bit operating system. That's why I was trying to install 64 bit version (biee_client_install_x64.exe).
One of my colleague told that 64 bit version has issue with JVM and try 32 bit version(biee_client_install.exe). so I unintsalled 64 bit version and reinstalled 32 bit version.
I was able to open Admin tool now with 32 bit OBIEE client version. But when I tried to open an existing RPD then it threw following error:
[nqsError: 36010] server version 318 cannot read the newer version 320 of the repository .
Is it because the repository might have been created with 64 bit version?
You are trying to open latest rpd in older version of admin tool, you might have to degrade the rpd file using below or else upgrade tool.
Using nqgenoldverrpd.exe from \OFM\Oracle_BI1\bifoundation\server\bin
nqgenoldverrpd -P Admin123 -I c:\dd\d.rpd -O c:\dd\a.rpd -V 318
If helps mark

For future readers, I was able to resolve this problem. Here's how:
For the "Configuration Error" dialog when doing a stand-alone 64-bit Windows client install, you need to go to the "C:\Program Files\Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition Plus Client\oraclebi\orahome\bifoundation\server\bin" directory, change the permissions to the "bi_init.cmd" file so you can edit it, and comment out the line that starts "set ORACLE_INSTANCE". You'll get a new error dialog when you try to open the tool complaining that the ORACLE_INSTANCE variable is not set, but you can click through it and the tool will work fine.
For the issue of RPD version 318 vs 320, you need to download the 184.108.40.206.2 version of the client, which has been released as a patch (it's really just a full install). It's patch 13794002.
