I'm using SiteStudio and UCM 11g and trying to make a news site. I follow this tutorial's instructions, but after i try to add an element definiton, i cannot see it on project again. I mean the element definiton that i try to add couldn't be added actually. Does anybody have an idea about this problem?
Helps will be appreciated.Regars
If you follow SSXA Tutorial, and by "see it on project" again you mean seeing your element in JDev IDE, you will need to Refresh available Elements. Also, make sure that you have your Site selected.
Either way, the worst what could happen is that your element has some metadata missing (e.g. Sites). You can check it directly from UCM and fill it there (via metadata Update) if necessary.
Thanks for reply.
I'm sorry i guess the problem is not clear enough. When i try to add a region define, it wants me to choose the element definiton id from the dropdownlist. There, i couldn't see the element definition that i've created just before. I think the problem is about metadata defines. Do you know that how can i control them?
So, I assume that we speak about SSXA and JDev IDE.
First of all, you should find out where is the problem (what metadata is missing/is not configured). My guess is that it will be Web Sites (xWebsites). This parameter can be best influenced from JDev by selecting the site you want to work with in the upper-right corner of the Site Assets section in the JDev (you might find the text +( No Sites Specified)+ there ). Note that you must have a Site Studio Connection created and must be logged in to make this work (since you can create the element definition I assume that you have your connection ready).
Of course, like with any other metadata you may also specify the metadata later via Advanced Checkin, but since it should not be necessary to do it that way.
The other parameter, Web Site Object Type, will be selected for you by JDev, depending on the object you want to create.
I couldn't understand the "JDev" part. I'm using SiteStudio Designer and when i add the definitions, i check the metadata field. If the checkin is element definitions, this field automatically setted "element definition". I hope I'm clear
In Site Studio Designer you always work with a single site by definition, so this should not be an issue.
Like I wrote before, you must first find out where is the problem in your system (namely, is the element definition item checked in? if so, what are its metadata?)
I have just verified the behavior and I can see a newly created element to be added to a region definition - in both Element Definition ID drop down (displays EDs for the site), or via Search (displays all EDs regardless the site).
Note that if a problem is with other metadata (such as DocType, Security Group, etc.), those metadata can be defined in Administration - Site Studio Administration - Set Default Web Asset Document Information (or during check-in)
English version would be easier, but I guess that I can read the main thing:
- website and web object type are OK
- security group is public
- doc type is document
Now, you should show me what you see in Site Studio Designer (while adding element definitions to your region definition). It's be better to show both drop down box and results returned by Search.
:) sorry I'm so selfish, although you can read congratulations :) the language is default choice of the user "weblogic".
Now the screens :
http://postimage.org/image/hre5ji55b/ (Reg Def)
http://postimage.org/image/s2qic5wun/ (Couldn't see ElDef ID)
I hope they're understandable.
How about Search...? (what's displayed when you click on this button)
Also, what's the meaning of the red warning you get on http://postimage.org/image/hre5ji55b/ ? (maybe you need to re-index first?)

I'd try to get rid of the red warning. Google translator told me that the last sentence means: Please, re-create your index collection.
It can be a broken search index issue. From the perspective of Site Studio you do everything correctly.
