DB character set is set as WE8ISO8859P1 before. after migration, its character set is changed to UTF8.
When using sql developer to select table, the content cannot show correct character. Only traditional chinese & simplified Chinese CANNOT show their character while english is normal. As a result, sql developer cannot show correct characters
What needs to be checked here? Any input would be more appreciated.
Pl post exact OS and database versions, along with how the database was migrated from WE8ISO8859P1 to UTF8. If you create a temporary table and insert Chinese characters into it using SQL Developer, can you then display them correctly using SQL Developer ?
Thanks for your response. The Customer says that this was done at their end.
He created a temp table and inserted the chinese character with SQL Developer but no problem was found and displayed it well as intended.
This would indicate an issue with the characterset conversion process, since storing and displaying Chinese characters using SQL Developer now works as advertised. The link provided is not an official Oracle link - can you confirm that they followed the official conversion process ? Did they do this conversion themselves or involve Oracle or some other consulting company ?
