Hi,1 person found this helpful
Oracle Application Express release 4.2 requires an Oracle database (Enterprise Edition, Standard Edition or Standard Edition One) that is Release 10.2.0.4 or higher.<<http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E37097_01/doc/install.42/e35123/pre_require.htm#BABFCFBC>>
huhuhu I told you I am on 10.2.0.4
Then why still i got error. I tried in on 11g but its ok :( but I need it to run on 10.2.0.4 because our apps run on this db version.

dear...I already read that one yesterday. Actually that is the thread that I mentioned above that it was long time ago "2008" and still the people are having a hard time doing trial and error.
That was way back Apex 3.2 and no definite solution :( . but my case is in Apex 4.2.
Can you try installing apex 4.2 on 10.2.0.4 :)
We will see if you got the same error. Thanksssssssss

We also had issues with Apex 4.2 and XDB1 person found this helpful
This from our WIKI:-
When XDB is used for Apex, the ANONYMOUS user must be configured for file access.
as sysdba run the following:
If this block has not been run, then when accessing Apex, one is channged for XDB credentials ("server said: XDB")
SET SERVEROUTPUT ON
l_value VARCHAR2 (5) := 'true'; -- (true/false)
l_configxml := DBMS_XDB.cfg_get ();
-- Add missing element.
SELECT INSERTCHILDXML (
DBMS_OUTPUT.put_line ('Element inserted.');
-- Update existing element.
SELECT UPDATEXML (
DBMS_OUTPUT.put_line ('Element updated.');
BTW we eventually gave up on upgrading our Apex 4.1 to 4.21 person found this helpful
It kept corrupting our XDB
It would install with no errors but would not start up in the browser.
Waiting to upgrade out DB to 11.2
Thanks dear :)
So this means Apex 4.2 in 10.2.0.4 is a hopeless case :(
I dunno about a fresh install i.e. never had Apex on the 10.2.x DB before1 person found this helpful
The DBA did remove Apex 4.1 totally off out test system, but 4.2 would still not display in the web browser

I am installing Apex 4.2 in Oracle 10.2.0.4 on SLES 11
But I got the above error. :(
I did that dear but to no avail. Therefore I conclude that Apex 4.2 is not supported on 10g. :(
So abort the project :D , My workaround is to install 11R2 XE and grant views to dblinks to 10g.
yxes2013 wrote:I'm not an expert on APEX, but rather than making wrong conclusion by yourself, better to read documentation and the requirements (as already pointed out to you above) :

Disagree ? Raise a service request to your support.
Ok dear prove it :) generally some docs does not give desired outcome.
Try installing it on 10g, and if you succeed I will give you 10USD for snacks, via paypal ;)
I'm certainly more enclin to believe official documentation than someone else assumption.
You should start learning apex as this is a great software ;) and you can help me with my apex issues too :)
So go...install it asap.
