    VALID_FOR Parameter

    user11982706
Another thread on this forum prompted me to post this question. DB version 11.2.0.1
      Primary:

      ALTER SYSTEM SET LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_1='LOCATION=USE_DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST VALID_FOR=(ONLINE_LOGFILE,PRIMARY_ROLE) DB_UNIQUE_NAME=PLMQDBS'

      ALTER SYSTEM SET LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_2='SERVICE=PLMQDBST ASYNC VALID_FOR=(ONLINE_LOGFILE,PRIMARY_ROLE) DB_UNIQUE_NAME=PLMQDBST' scope=both

      Standby:

      ALTER SYSTEM SET LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_1='LOCATION=USE_DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST VALID_FOR=(ONLINE_LOGFILE,PRIMARY_ROLE) DB_UNIQUE_NAME=PLMQDBST'

      ALTER SYSTEM SET LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_2='SERVICE=PLMQDBS ASYNC VALID_FOR=(STANDBY_LOGFILE,STANDBY_ROLE) DB_UNIQUE_NAME=PLMQDBS'
Is VALID_FOR is correctly set for primary and standby ? I am not facing any issue with these values set, archives are generated and shipped & applied on standby. But if i switch roles, then would it be fine ?

please ignore this question..... I will update this question with correct settings as archives are not getting shipped & applied with these settings.

what's your standby database ? physical or logical ? but whatever it is , The LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_2 setting in Standby database is wrong !!
              ALTER SYSTEM SET LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_2='SERVICE=PLMQDBS ASYNC VALID_FOR=(STANDBY_LOGFILE,STANDBY_ROLE) DB_UNIQUE_NAME=PLMQDBS'
you know , when SERVICE works ,indicate this database is primary . but when STANDBY_ROLE works, indicates this database is standby database. yeah ,they are conflict.
