        Hi Arie,

Do you have any suggestion on this.

I tried on a simple 2-3 pages application to see if its some error with my original application, but its not working there also.

Please check my above post and see what could be the issue.

One more thing just want to share:

When I create a region and just give this path in that regions source
        <img src="/ipt/image1.jpeg">
I am able to see the image, it means apex is able to read that virtual /ipt/ directory.

then it means its just not able to found the basic files which are required by apex, that's why I am getting that Reference error(apex is not defined).

I saw the oracle docs here

        http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17556_01/doc/user.40/e15517/global.htm

there also its specified that to create a separate virtual directory for each language, one thing I noticed there is that they have specified that to create

the virtual directory inside /i/ directory like /i/de/ etc, what does this specify?

Does it means we have to create a copy of images directory inside images directory change its name then replace the images with translated images?

        Please clear these doubts.

        Regards
        Ani

          Hi Arie,

Where are you, please help to make this work.

Not getting any reply from other members also.

I am completely blank on this, not getting anything from where to do the checking.

          Waiting for your reply

          Regards
          Ani

            Hello Ani,

Sorry. I was out of the office for couple of days and was not able to monitor the forum up close, so I probably missed your previous reply.

            >> You said "see how the APEX engine translate the /ipt/ alias" How can I do that?

Every time APEX issue an error like "Apex is not defined" the Apache server log a detailed error message, which include more information about the error, including a full path for files it can't locate. This path includes the real (OS level) path of the file, including the segment that is represented by the alias. When you are running a translated application, and encounter an error message, which most likely involved a file that can't be located (like I suspect is the case with your scenario), you should check the Apache error log and see the full path of the missing file. Is the path points to the right location?

            >> not only english version, portuguese version is also working fine

Is the Portuguese application also using its own alias?

            Regards,
            Arie.

              Hi Arie,

              Thanks for your reply.

No Portuguese application is not working when giving another alias to this application.

Found one more thing today, when I try to see a file in firebug from that /ipt/ alias I am getting this error:
              <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//IETF//DTD HTML 2.0//EN">
              <html><head>
              <title>404 Not Found</title>
              </head><body>
              <h1>Not Found</h1>
<p>The requested URL /ipt/javascript/apex_4_1.min.js was not found on this server.</p>
              <p>Additionally, a 404 Not Found
error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.</p>
              <hr>
              <address>Apache/2.0.63 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.0.63 OpenSSL/0.9.8e-fips-rhel5 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 mod_jk/1.2.30 PHP/5.2.9 Server at XXX.com Port 80</address>
              </body></html>
it shows that apex is not able to read that alias.

And, there's no error_log file generated when I run the application after changing the alias(for portuguese), though I get that reference error in the application,

but when I see the access_log file there every path is starting with /i/ only, what does this means?

I am not getting, after creating the alias and also restarting the apache sever why apex is not able to read the new alias.

Is there anything else I need to do?

But Arie, as I said above, I can access the /ipt/ alias when I use it in any region, I am able to show a image from the same alias, then how its possible when I give the same alias to my translated application its giving me above error?

              Regards
              Ani

                Hi Arie,

                I got it working today.

I don't know why, but when I tried to access the new (ipt) alias from my another copy of the same application and I was able to that.

Then I did the translation for that copy and changed the image directory to /ipt/ and it works, not getting any error in this application.

But, I am not able to understand why and how this can happen? one application is able to access the alias and another not?

Both the applications are in same workspace.

Marking this post as answered, but can you please clear my above doubts.

                Regards
                Ani

                  Hi Arie,

Can you please tell me what can be the issue, in one application I am able to access the /ipt/ alias but at the same time not able to access it from other application.

                    Hello Ani,

                    Your scenario is indeed puzzling.

The fact that one application, in the same workspace, can successfully use and access the /ipt/ alias leads me to believe that your Apache (DAD) configuration is correct. It is possible that one of the APEX's metadata tables that holds information for your first application got corrupted somehow.

It's very hard to pin-point such problems remotely, and as this is not something you are doing – as your other applications work fine – I wouldn't spend too much time on this. If the copy of your application is fully functional, I would delete the first application and continue working on the copy (which now will be the primary application). If the copy is missing some functionalities, you can try and export the original application, delete the application and its translated affiliation, and then import only the primary language application. Now you can create a new language mapping, and using your existing XLIFF file, re-create the translated application.

                    Regards,
                    Arie.

                      Hi Arie,

I tried the thing you said, created a copy of the application, after creating the copy I was able to access the /ipt/ alias in the copied application,

but as all the translation was not copied, I created a .xliff file(some part of the application) for the new copied application and applied it, after that also

I was able to access the /ipt/ alias. But when I did the same process of applying and publishing the application for small parts again and again, after some

                      time that alias becomes unavailable.

So, what I understood is that this process of publishing the application is corrupting the metadata somewhere.

How can I know where it is corrupting? Do I need to translate & publish the whole application at once?

One more thing, after when that alias becomes unavailable, I deleted the translation application and tried to access the alias again, it was still not available.

This is quite annoying, also not able to debug the things.

                      Regards
                      Ani

                        Hi Arie,

I am still on the same point I explained above. These I tried to clear the Application by deleting the unnecessary pages and do the translation,

that's because may be application size was affecting the translation process, but it doesn't.

Can you please help me again on this:

As I have explained above, when I am Publishing the application again & again after translating some part of the application /ipt/ alias is

                        becoming unavailable after some time.

                        Regards
                        Ani.

I have to admit that I never encountered your scenario, and I don't know what to advice you next. The situation you are describing shouldn't happen, as long as you are using the APEX internal tools for translation, so it's possible that you have encountered some kind of bug. The person in the APEX development team that most qualified to check it is on vacation until after Easter. I will try to asked him if he can help, or raise any other solutions, but as I said, it will have to wait for after Easter.

                          Regards,
                          Arie.

                                Hi Ani,

This is already on my To-Do-List :)

                                >> when I am Publishing the application again & again after translating some part of the application /ipt/ alias is becoming unavailable after some time.

What you mean by " translating some part of the application", are you translating single pages? Or, are you only translating parts of the (entire application) XLIFF file?

The first question raised by the development team is can the problem be reproduced on apex.oracle.com. Can you try and reproduce it on the host site? It will be much simpler to resolve the problem if it reproducible, and it will allow a simpler access to the APEX metadata.

                                Thanks and regards,
                                Arie.

                                  Hi Arie,

I am doing translation in the xliff file generated for the whole application and applying it, but I am translating some part of the file at a time then apply it likewise do the translation for whole application, as if any error occurred will be easy to trace.

I will try to reproduce it at apex.oracle.com, but how can I create a new alias there?

                                  Regards

That's a very good question, which I should have anticipated, unfortunately I didn't, and moreover, I don't have a proper answer for it. It is possible that this specific scenario can't be tested on the host site.

                                    I will check it further.
