What does your own google search of 'ORA-28500' turn up?

What I see first is that oracle is telling you it got some sort of error from the mysql system. What does that tell you? Well, it tells you that you were able to contact the mysql database. The first few google hits I got suggested that perhaps you were passing an invalid username/password.

Well, I know nothing about mysql. I'd recommend checking in on a mysql forum.

Care to contribute to the knowledge base by sharing that "workaround"? It might trigger some ideas for a NON-workaround solution.
