JRE 6 updates

I know 6u43 has been labelled as the last public update for JRE6.

Given that, are there any rumors of another update (e.g. 6u45)?

I am trying to schedule technology updates at work.

I don't think I would make any decisions based on a rumor. I would recommend using the EOL Policy guide as your reference. If a decision is made to release another, consider it a bonus.

If you are a current Oracle customer using a current Oracle product version that is dependant on Java 6, updates may be made available to you for use with that dependant product through the life of that product. You may also be entitled to updates through Oracle Java SE Support .

If there are no rumors are you looking to start one? :)

Is there any reason you can not move to 7, 7u17+?

For planning your schedule, there is a scheduled release on April 16th, where these is likely to be an update to the 7 Family.

I am not looking to start any rumors just asking a simple question since Oracle already pushed the EOL out before.

Product cannot be moved to JRE7 due to it spot along the lifeline.

    Thanks anyways

So eventually you're going to be stuck supporting a piece of ancient software on an ancient development platform that won't ever be updated to for example support more recent operating systems and such. Lifeline be darned.

Does the product not work with Java7? Or is there a concern that moving to a family release could cause issues?

If you do need to have access to ongoing updates, with security fixes, to Java 6, new updates will be produced through Dec 2016. Access to those updates are available with a Java SE Commercial contract. They can be downloaded from http://support.oracle.com/

Java 6u45 has been out for a while. I've been able to find it on Oracle's website only a few times though because v6 is retired and has been placed into their archives (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javasebusiness/downloads/java-archive-downloads-javase6-419409.html). But by default, the archives don't contain the latest build. I use a website called filehippo.com to keep up because they have a nice RSS feed so I know when updates come out. You can also download v6u45 though them (http://www.filehippo.com/download_jre_32/14872/).
