We use HS to connect to SQLServer database through dblink using SQLServer authentication (Oracle 10g DB on Windows server), The sqlserver db is being moved to a new server and there it is set up to use Windows authentication only. Is it possible to use dblink/HS with Windows authentication on the SQLServer side? Oracle support answer is no, but I thought I would ask around...

Gateway for ODBC 10g or 11g is only supported with SQL Server Authentication, not Windows authentication.
If your SQL Server is only configured for Windows authentication, you have no other way to change the configuration of the SQL Server to support the Mixed Mode (both Windows authentication and SQL Server authentication).
It's not a problem, you can change the authentication mode.
It depends on your SQL server version but you can change security authentication mode via SQL Server Management Studio :
1.In SQL Server Management Studio Object Explorer, right-click the server, and then click Properties.
2.On the Security page, under Server authentication, select the new server authentication mode, and then click OK.
3.In the SQL Server Management Studio dialog box, click OK to acknowledge the requirement to restart SQL Server
