there is a very nice sample Application for trees available in Apex 4.2. It works fine to upload .txt, .xml, .xls files and also to dwonload them again. But when download them they are read-only. Is there a change to change the files and save them again in the Application. The Application could be foud here http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=35219:1 . I'm not sure, if it is important to know that the Application is running on a cloud. I couldn't find any information about that behaviour. Please could you help?

New users are ofen asked to change their generic "Usernnnnnn" to a more meaningful (to me) handle. I'm Howard, for example.
And we ask that you take the time to read https://forums.oracle.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=1324
It would normally help to know your setup in order to more efficently answer questions. Commonly users are asked for
[ Specify what product versions you are using of Oracle Application Express, the Oracle database and also your web browser]
But I'm just trying to understand the problem.
You want the file permissions changed in APEX because that's causing a problem? Is that the case?
Obviously, you can change the file permissions once they are downloaded? Right? But that's an inconvenince or a problem?
I'm trying to understand the "real" problem here.
thank you for you answer, I edit the unser name but maybe it works only next time. I use oracle 11g xe with Apex 4.2 on a Amazon Cloud EC2. As browser I use Firefox. But in the sample application it is the same situation and if you open an file from the Tree within the tab 'Project Documentation'. I want to upload for example an excel sheet into a tree of a apex application and then open, edit and save the file again. But without need to change the name of the excel sheet. I want to use the tree like document management system, but only for a few documents which I neet to have on a cloud. I don't understand when access is lost. Is it on the upload or is it on the download or is a problem of the permission. Iis it possible to save a document in a directory ? I don't need the the data form the excel sheet in the oracle database.
Okay, I see what you want and the problem. I can download and upload files but there is no (apparent) update facility for this tree. Either there is none at all or the "make file updatable" feature hasn't been turned on.
I know nothing about trees. What does the documentation say about this?
