Hi all,
I try to use the Java WebStartConsole for OVM Manager in Firefox 19.0.2.

After I click "Launch Console" The Opening window appears and I use the default application "IcedTea Web Start(default). After I click OK an "Fatal Error" appears.

Could someone can tell me why I can not use the "Java OVM Console" and what I need to do to fix the problem.

MyWorkstation
openSUSE 12.1 (x86_64)

#>java -version
#java version "1.6.0_27"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.12.4) (suse-32.1-x86_64)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.0-b12, mixed mode

Thanks *T

    Re,
so to fix the problem I try to deinstall the openJDK and install the oracle java 1.7.17.

Now javaws runs with the latest java

    gkd0117@pcb01389:/usr/lib64/jvm/jre> java -version
    java version "1.7.0_17"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_17-b02)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.7-b01, mixed mode)
    gkd0117@pcb01389:/usr/lib64/jvm/jre>

    But the problem still occurs

If I run the javaws from linux console I get this error. May a parser is missing ?

    Unable to find class net.sourceforge.jnlp.security.VariableX509TrustManagerJDK7

I may be sent to Coventry for even posting in this thread at all, you're asking about a specific product rather than about WebStart itself, and you're using a non-Oracle version of Web Start, or at least that's the version you posted the stack dump for. So not really on topic here.

Anyhow, I'd be tempted to concentrate on the line

Caused by: java.io.IOException: Server returned HTTP response code: 502 for URL: http://vbogrid12.gkdruhr.de:7001/ovm/rasproxy/ovm_rasproxy-ws.jnlp?vmachineId%3D0004fb00000600009ae1e92fdec29afb&service%3Dnull&sessionId%3D80e9d78a-d597-42f5-a9cf-efa741ffc79f

Do you mean to use a proxy to access this URL? If so, what happens if you try to open the URL in your web browser?

The installation is mixed up it seems; both the missing class exception and the webstart exception still refer to IcedTea while it should have been all Oracle JDK.

    Re,
I agree with you gimbal2. I think that´s the most suitable idea. The Problem is that I do not find any good documentation how to use only the oracle java in openSuSE 12. So the distribution from Novell uses the openJDK and I think they dont care if I want to use the "normal" java.

So from my understanding I uninstalled the openJDK´s first than I installed the java 1.7.0.17.
If I run #>javaws -about the icedTea-Web program starts.

My Problem looks link I do not understand how to use the "right" webStart from java 1.7.
Isn´t that the right program javaws ? Does I need to installed additional packages ?

    Thank you very much.

Ok that was the only problem.

I deinstall the iceTea and run the javaws from jdk folder ....:-/

    Thank you !!
