      Dear guys, gurus,

My server run Solaris 10 x86, I am already add 1 new disk to server which is c2t2d0

      [root@sola01 /]# format
      Searching for disks...done

      AVAILABLE DISK SELECTIONS:
      0. c0d0 <DEFAULT cyl 4092 alt 2 hd 128 sec 32>
      /pci@0,0/pci-ide@7,1/ide@0/cmdk@0,0
      1. c2t0d0 <DEFAULT cyl 1955 alt 2 hd 255 sec 63>
      /pci@0,0/pci15ad,1976@10/sd@0,0
      2. c2t1d0 <DEFAULT cyl 1302 alt 2 hd 255 sec 63>
      /pci@0,0/pci15ad,1976@10/sd@1,0
      *3. c2t2d0* <DEFAULT cyl 1020 alt 2 hd 64 sec 32>
      /pci@0,0/pci15ad,1976@10/sd@2,0

Then i do the format this disk to make a slide (like /dev/sdc -> /dev/sdc1 on Linux)
In the formatting i specify it as Part 1 (Slide 1)

      partition> print
      Current partition table (original):
Total disk cylinders available: 1020 + 2 (reserved cylinders)

Part Tag Flag Cylinders Size Blocks
      0 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
      1 unassigned wm 2 - 1019 1018.00MB (1018/0/0) 2084864
      2 backup wu 0 - 1019 1020.00MB (1020/0/0) 2088960
      3 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
      4 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
      5 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
      6 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
      7 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
      8 boot wu 0 - 0 1.00MB (1/0/0) 2048
      9 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0

After format finish i have 1 new slide is : */dev/rdsk/c2t2d0s1*
But Listing it show many of slides :

      [root@sola01 /]# ls /dev/rdsk/c2t2d0s*
      /dev/rdsk/c2t2d0s0 /dev/rdsk/c2t2d0s11 /dev/rdsk/c2t2d0s14 /dev/rdsk/c2t2d0s3 /dev/rdsk/c2t2d0s6 /dev/rdsk/c2t2d0s9
      /dev/rdsk/c2t2d0s1 /dev/rdsk/c2t2d0s12 /dev/rdsk/c2t2d0s15 /dev/rdsk/c2t2d0s4 /dev/rdsk/c2t2d0s7
      /dev/rdsk/c2t2d0s10 /dev/rdsk/c2t2d0s13 /dev/rdsk/c2t2d0s2 /dev/rdsk/c2t2d0s5 /dev/rdsk/c2t2d0s8

That make me very confused. So, my question is, how can i know which disk slide is the right formatted one ?

      So thanks and best regards
      Ch
