I want to know if there is any way to install LVM (Logical Volume Management) manually and separately on Linux operating system as when i initially installed RedHat Enterprise Linux 6,i mistakenly did not select the application LVM itself. You can install the tools like this:
Although you can use the tools to construct new LVM devices and partitoins, you can't change your existing partitions into LVM.
# yum install -y lvm2
Another issue i have not been able to fix is the Virtual Machine Manager. I have tried to connect but it keeps showing me the following error message on RedHat Enterprise Enterprise Linux 6:On your physical host, do this:
Error Message from Virtual Machine Manager :
Unable to open a connection to the libvirt management daemon.
Libvirt URI is: qemu:///system
Verify that The 'libvirtd' daemon has been started
This will start the virtualization tools.
# /sbin/chkconfig libvirtd on # /sbin/service libvirtd start
TommyReynolds ,Thanks for your reply but i am still getting the same error message everytime i try to connect to Virtual Machine Manager.here is the more detailed error message for your convenience.
no connection driver available for qemu:///system
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/share/virt-manager/virtManager/connection.py", line 1022, in tryopen
File "/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/libvirt.py", line 102, in openAuth
if ret is None:raise libvirtError('virConnectOpenAuth() failed')
libvirtError: no connection driver available for qemu:///system
As for LVM,i have applied what you have suggested on terminal but to no avail.it would show me the LVM application under System>Administration tab if it was successfully installed.
You can install the LVM GUI using:
Regarding Virtual Machine Manager... are you trying this as root on the server console?
# yum install system-config-lvm
Dude,I will let you know the update on LVM when i install it tonight.
I tried running Virtual Manager as root on RedHat Linux Enterprise 6 on my home PC.it just keeps on promoting the same error message as shown on my previous post.
any way to fix the issue?
