    Oracle XE - Uninstall 11g, Install 10g

    Habib
      Hi

I have a virtual machine running Centos 6.3 64bit having some software installed and settings which I don't want to re-do. The machine has Oracle 11g XE installed. I want to remove 11g and install Oracle Xe 10g for some reason.

      I removed oracle-xe by:
      rpm -e oracle-xe
      rm -Rf /etc/oratab
      rm -rf /u01/app/oracle/
Now I installed XE 10g with:
      rpm -ivh oracle-xe-univ-10.2.0.1-1.0.i386.rpm
      Preparing...                ########################################### [100%]
         1:oracle-xe-univ         ########################################### [100%]
      Executing Post-install steps...

You must run '/etc/init.d/oracle-xe configure' as the root user to
      configure the database.
Now when I go to configure Oracle, it comes back to the prompt very quickly whereas when it really configures the db, it takes about 1-2 minutes to come back. It also shows an error:
      -bash-4.1# /etc/init.d/oracle-xe configure

Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Configuration
      -------------------------------------------------
This will configure on-boot properties of Oracle Database 10g Express
Edition.  The following questions will determine whether the database should
be starting upon system boot, the ports it will use, and the passwords that
will be used for database accounts.  Press <Enter> to accept the defaults.
      Ctrl-C will abort.

Specify the HTTP port that will be used for Oracle Application Express [8080]:

Specify a port that will be used for the database listener [1521]:

Specify a password to be used for database accounts.  Note that the same
password will be used for SYS and SYSTEM.  Oracle recommends the use of
different passwords for each database account.  This can be done after
      initial configuration:
      Confirm the password:

Do you want Oracle Database 10g Express Edition to be started on boot (y/n) [y]:

      Starting Oracle Net Listener...Done
Configuring Database...grep: /usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/config/log/*.log: No such file or directory
      Done
Starting Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Instance...Done
      Installation Completed Successfully.
To access the Database Home Page go to "http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex"
      Look at the error:
Configuring Database...grep: /usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/config/log/*.log: No such file or directory
      An nothing really works:
      . /usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/bin/oracle_env.sh
      sqlplus '/as sysdba'
-bash: /usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/bin/sqlplus: /lib/ld-linux.so.2: bad ELF interpreter: No such file or directory
Will be thankful if someone can help.
