          THE ARCHIVELOG BACKUP MUST BE AFTER THE DATABASE BACKUP. you still don't understand it, do you ???
          run {
          crosscheck archivelog all;
          delete noprompt expired archivelog all;
          backup database;
          SQL 'ALTER SYSTEM ARCHIVE LOG CURRENT';
          BACKUP ARCHIVELOG ALL;
          delete obsolete;
          }

            Thats not what you said earlier :P :(
            I would advice you to put or run the CROSSCHECK ARCHIVELOG ALL and DELETE [NOPROMPT] EXPIRED ARCHIVELOG ALL before the BACKUP >DATABASE;
            So i put the BACKUP DATABASE command at the last ;) So that all commands are before it.

            Is it clear?

              I did NOT say "BACKUP ARCHIVELOG before BACKUP DATABASE". I did even refer to "..subsequent BACKUP ARCHIVELOG".

              You really seem to be not paying attention.

                Why it says to CROSSCHECK again? it is becoming an infinite crosschecking?

                It is nice to know that dbvisit being found. I did not know it is there ;) How do I display all hidden sofwares installed against our database?
                Does it deletes the archivelogs?

                  (and the others)
                  is a Backup Piece.

                  You need to have them crosschecked with CROSSCHECK BACKUP.
                  They can then be deleted with DELETE EXPIRED BACKUP.

                  RMAN doesn't find hidden software. It just so happens that whoever created those backups named them as "X.dbvisit....." they could have been named anything.

                    Thanks hem,

                    So I need to run this again? or I need to add some command to have a "catch all" one time run process? I want to eliminate reruns of processes or duplications cause its wasting resources ;)
                    run {
                    crosscheck archivelog all;
                    delete noprompt expired archivelog all;
                    backup database;
                    SQL 'ALTER SYSTEM ARCHIVE LOG CURRENT';
                    BACKUP ARCHIVELOG ALL;
                    delete obsolete;
                    }
                    Can you make tha above perfect? :)

                    Thanks

                      There's no "perfect" answer.

                      Many sites do not have "missing" archivelogs. They do not need to run CROSSCHECK ARCHIVELOG ALL because they are in control of the archivelogs. Yours seems to be a site where you are not in control of what is happening.

                      And remember : I suggested adding CROSSCHECK ARCHIVELOG ALL and DELETE EXPIRED ARCHIVELOG ALL only if missing archivelogs was a frequent occurrence. It isn't a good thing to go and delete archivelogs without knowing what is happening. Such behaviour should be an exception not a rule.

                          Maybe these are Controlfile Copies created with BACKUP AS COPY CURRENT CONTROLFILE OR the SQL command "ALTER DATABASE BACKUP CONTROLFILE TO ..." instead of being Controlfile Backups created with BACKUP CURRENT CONTROLFILE.

                          DID you check if the CROSSCHECK BACKUP listed them ? Or did you just ignore whatever flashed by on screen ?

                          Try a CROSSCHECK COPY OF CONTROLFILE

                              I also put CROSSCHECK COPY OF CONTROLFILE

                              But still the same warning :(

                                The two "new" files in /u01/app/oracle/flash_recovery_area/TEST1/backupset/2013_04_30 are actually backups created at 14:36:29 and 14:39:08 earlier today. I presume that you have manually deleted them and not bothered to do a CROSSCHECK BACKUP and DELELETE EXPIERD BACKUP. The DELETE OBSOLETE raises a warning because it knows that these are obsolete but cannot delete them because they don't exist anymore.

                                Why are you repeatedly running the whole backup ?

                                  I am getting rid of the warnings :( hoping to clear all.
