I want to install and explore new feature of Forms 11g, just for test purposes, for that i have downloaded Oracle Forms and Reports 11g Release 2 from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/forms/downloads/index.html

My PC contain:
Operating System Windows 7 64 bit
Database Installed locally : 10G Enterprise edition

My question:
Can I install and Run Forms/Reports locally like wise 10G forms using OC4j. Is there a way to bypass weblogic server, I dont want to install weblogic server.

No, Forms 11g will not work with the OC4J container. You must install WebLogic Server as it is a "prerequisite" to installing Fusion Middleware 11g.

    Hi,

As Craig pointed out, Oracle WebLogic Server is the only supported application server for Oracle Forms and Reports 11gR2 (11.1.2.1.0). According to Oracle's certification matrix for Forms and Reports 11gR2 (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/forms/oracle-forms-111210certmatrix-1886127.xls), only Oracle WebLogic Server 10.3.5 and 10.3.6 are supported with Forms 11gR2. I would recommend WebLogic Server 10.3.6 as this would be a supported environment to use Java 7 Update 21 as it contains the most recent Java security patches. To download WLS 10.3.6, you can do the following:

    1. Go to http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/ias/downloads/wls-main-097127.html
    2. Scroll down to "Oracle WebLogic Server Previous Releases". Go to where it says Oracle WebLogic Server 10.3.6 and expand "See all files".
    3. After accepting the OTN license terms, select the "Generic: 1 GB" downloader under the "Additional Platforms" column in the line where it says "Oracle WebLogic Server 11gR1 (10.3.6) + Coherence - Package Installer".

To install Oracle WebLogic Server 10.3.6 in a 64-bit platform, you will need to download the latest JDK (7u21) from Oracle if you haven't already. You can find this at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html.

    Thanks,
    Scott
