We are planning on switching from our old desktops to SunRay Clients, connecting to Windows 2008R2 TS. There will be up to 50 simultaneous connections on our head office and up to 20 connecting from another location. We got internet redundancy but connection speed is unreliable.
How much bandwidth will those ~20 users need? How can that be calculated?
Do SunRay Clients use the new RDP 8.0?
ALP (Adaptive Link Protocol) will automatically detect and tune for the bandwidth and latency available which makes measuring these numbers a little difficult because a DTU on a local LAN will use more bandwidth than what may actually be needed. I suggest you use the bandwitdh limit setting (in the GUI firmware) or on your switch and try a session with different values and look for the lowest possible bandwidth that still allows you to work comfortably (this varies by what you are actually using the Sun Ray for) and use that value for your calculations
