From oracle reading, Grid Control 11g will be upgraded to Cloud Control 12c. But is Cloud Control 12c Oracle certified?
On metalink, certification tab, I can find Grid control 11g certification, but cannot find 12c certification, there are misc messages on that Enterprise Manager group.
Can someone shed some lights? I will really appreciate it.
So Oracle Grid Control is changed the term to Enterprise Manager Base Platform - OMS. For example, I searched Enterprise Manager Base Platform - OMS 220.127.116.11.0 is certified on Linux x86-64 Oracle Linux 6.
How do I know this is for Grid Control?
For 12c forget Grid Control and use the term Cloud Control. How do you know Enterprise Manager Base Platform - OMS is Cloud Control? Good question... it just is.
If you enter Enterprise Manager Base Platform - OMS, Release:18.104.22.168.0, Linux x86-64 Oracle Linux
And follow the link:Certification Details for Notes and Support information you will see "Enterprise Manager Base Platform - OMS 22.214.171.124.0 is certified on Linux x86-64 Oracle Linux 6"
Thank you, Eric. That's a good information. I didn't know the term was changed. I am afraid I give a wrong information to the company.
One more questions, does 12c has many bugs? OR we should be conservertive to stay Grid Control 11g?
Every version has bugs, but if you go directly to the last version 126.96.36.199 the number is limited. But .... as always it depends what kind of targets you have and what options you use.
Since 12c is fairly different from 11g I would advice you to first get familiar with this version and first create an EMCC environment to monitor/control a number of non production targets.
One more question: under certification tab, I searched following:
Enterprise Manager Base Platform - OMS 188.8.131.52.0 is certified on Linux x86-64 Oracle Linux 6
under column certified with, the last one is Virtualization Software: Oracle VM server for x86 (Managed Target).
what does (Managed Target) mean?
why "Oracle VM server for x86" not x86-64?
