OBIEE and Exalytics;what extra effort is required to add Exalytics?

    metalray
      Hello Guys,
I am trying to estimate the time that is needed to use 2 Exalytics machines
in combination with OBIEE. What is the extra effort required?

I assume the in-times database will be used by the BI server automatically.
The extra effort is the new hardware/software.
The big change it the ETL Source->DWH->in times->bi server->app.

      Does that make sense?
Are there any work items that I have missed?

      Thanks

How long is a piece of string ...

          Nope.

Without wanting to sound too rude, you might want to factor in some Exalytics training too :-)

Exalytics can be used in many ways. At the very basic level, you can just use it as a very very big powerful server on which you run OBIEE - just as any other OBIEE server. Of course, that's a waste of the power of the box, but it's an option.

If you want to start putting aggregates in-memory with TimesTen then you need to build them and integrate them into OBIEE's RPD. One option is tools such as the Summary Advisor and Aggregate Persistence. Another option is to build the TimesTen aggregates yourself and plumb them into the RPD manually.

Thanks! That is already good enough for me to know that there is a lot of extra work that we need to estimate for :)
The trainings comes once we are convinced its feasible :)

one thing is not clear Even though the box comes with the pre-configured BI foundation pack, how do we migrate the current OBIEE servers running in some other machine to Exalytics?
Please let me know the steps to do the migration of OBIEE servers ?
