OBIEE Samples and installation problem... NAT vs. Bridged

    Adam M
So, here's the quick problem... when running the Samples in VirtualBox and the Networking is set to NAT mode all is good all services start, etc. when the Network is set to Bridged mode I can't get the BIServer and the Presentation server to start?

I've added my IP to the /etc/hosts file as laid out in the install doc but still a no go.

      Processes in Instance: instance1
      --------------------------------------------------------------+---------
      ias-component | process-type | pid | status
      --------------------------------------------------------------+---------
      coreapplication_obiccs1 | OracleBIClusterCo~ | 3918 | Alive
      coreapplication_obisch1 | OracleBIScheduler~ | 3917 | Alive
      coreapplication_obijh1 | OracleBIJavaHostC~ | 3919 | Alive
      coreapplication_obips1 | OracleBIPresentat~ | N/A | Down
      coreapplication_obis1 | OracleBIServerCom~ | N/A | Down

      How do I fix this?

errors in sawlog.log and nqserver.log would be helpful to dig more about it. or else paste the logs here

Since I'm new to OBIEE can you supply a path to those logs?

            Thanks,

              Presentation Server log files
              /middlewarehome/instances/instance1/diagnostics/logs/OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent/coreapplication_obips1
              Files: sawlog0.log

              BI Server log files
              /middlewarehome/instances/instance1/diagnostics/logs/OracleBIServerComponent/coreapplication_obis1
              Files: nqquery.log, nqserver.log

I was looking for corresponding time stamps but got close as I could. I hope this is enough...

Another interesting piece of the puzzle...

I thought I would like to go ahead and try something with the NAT setup so I changed the VM back to NAT, removed the line in /etc/hosts and re-started the server. Now I have the same problem..

So this obviously must be writing settings to a config file or something similar...

No one has any suggestions on how to fix this???
