    Java key events help...

I have an application that contains a JTable that has a key listener for every cell in every row. For each of those cells, I have a method that is called that does some processing depending on what cell is selected. The problem that is occurring is that on some cells, I display dialog boxes for user input and if the user holds the enter key down continuously (which is the key the event is based on), the dialog box will appear but once I 'X' out of it, the application just hangs like it's trying to catch up but never does. I was wondering what the best way to work around this would be? I was hoping I would be able to just call the method on a key released, but apparently in java you can't stop the auto-repeat feature. Thanks in advance.
