    Getting problem while creating Physical standby in 11G

    974882
      Hi Fourm friends,

      I am preparing the Physical standby using RMAN Duplicate .
      Primary database: db_name= oracle, db_unique_name: primary
      Standby database: db_name=oracle, db_unique_name: standby

      I have taken the backup of primary and now just trying to take duplicate target database but getting error:

      Refer my configuration:

          Do refer this

          FAL server and FAL client

          And

          Please correct your fal_server and fal_client parameter
          On Primary Present value

          *.fal_client='standby'
          *.fal_server='primary'
          On standby Present value

          *.fal_client='standby'
          *.fal_server='oracle'
          For standby creation this link is good.Just check your configuration.

              How in primary pfile you have this value??
              *.fal_client='oracle'
              It should be
              *.fal_client='primary'
              Same mistake you have done for standby database.

              Do check the link that i posted previously and you will be able to resolve your issue.

                On primary DB, make this first
                sql> alter database add standby logfile 'D:\softwares\oracle\product\10.2.0\oradata\primary\standby01.log' size 150m;
                sql> alter database create standby controlfile as 'D:\softwares\oracle\product\10.2.0\oradata\primary\standbycontrol01.ctl';
                then copy this standbycontrol01.ctl file from primary to standby and nake 3 copies of this and name it as
                CONTROL01.CTL
                CONTROL02.CTL
                CONTROL03.CTL

                Use this control file now

                  H,

                  Did you sure C:\BACKUP\PRIMARYORACLE_BKP_FOR_STANDBY_02O96OCO_1_1 is copied to standby side?

                  Regards

                    Hi,

                    The backup which you have taken should be accessible for standby server as well. If the backup is taken on local storage at primary site then either mount the directory through NFS or copy the backup files on standby server with same directory location.

                    Thanks

                      Yes, I aggree with you it best practise, adding standby redo logs before duplication.
                      If you using 10.2 version database, it is not impotant when you are using Max Performance protection mode.
                      As you know, SRL's is require for MAX PROTECTION and MAX AVAILABILITY protection mode sync transport.

                        And change On Primary Database
                        From

                        *.log_archive_dest_2='service="(DESCRIPTION =(ADDRESS_LIST =(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 192.168.247.128)(PORT = 1521)))
                        (CONNECT_DATA =(SERVICE_NAME = standby)(INSTANCE_NAME=oracle)))"',' LGWR SYNC AFFIRM delay=0 OPTIONAL max_failure=0 max_connections=1   reopen=300
                        db_unique_name="standby"  register net_timeout=180  valid_for=(online_logfile,primary_role)'

                        To

                        Alter system set log_archive_dest_2='service=standby ASYNC NOAFFIRM db_unique_name=standby valid_for=(online_logfile,primary_role)';
                        If you want SYNC transport for MAX AVAILABILITY or MAX PROTECTIUON.
                        Best practice, 1. set ASYNC transport. If everything is well, then change protection mode, (require restart).

                          Hello,
                          backup get completed
                          ==============================
                          At standby, i restore controle file:

                          RMAN> restore standby controlfile from 'C:\BACKUP\******'

                          =============================
                          NOw my standby is in MOunt state:

                          Here you have mounted your standby instance. Perfect.

                          But,

                          In the above line, did you notice that why RMAN is saying the auxiliary instance is "NOT MOUNTED" ?
                          First thing is that both primary and standby instance names are same "ORACLE". Secondly, make sure that you are connecting to the right databases.

                              I think, it means, SRL group conut equal ORL group +1.
                              And size can equal or greater.

                              Did you copied all backups to standby side?
