    ASM diskgroup issue

    user 777111
      Hi All,

I did a deconfig and deinstall of oracle clusterware. its a 2 node RAC cluster. OS is RHEL version 6.
      11GR2 RAC (11.2.0.3)

Again while doing the installation, the ASM disks still shows as MEMBER and not allowing me to select for clusterware install.
It appears like still the ASM diskgroups are not released.

I checked with my SAs if they could dismount and mount it again. They said since its a red hat version 6 its configured with UDEV concept and not with ASMLib.

In order to use my ASM diskgroups again for my installation, What should be done now?

Will reformatting the disks, will show again as member?

      Please advise...

      John

I was able to fix this issue.

The issue was , the ASM disks was still not released properly from OS level.

after i asked the sys admins to unmount and mount it again, i was able to see the disks as CANDIDATES for my install

Meanwhile ASMLib is available also for RHEL, but you need access to the Red Hat support area:
              http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHEA-2013-0554.html

You will still need to install oracleasmlib and oracleasm-support packages for OL6 from OTN though:
