    Dismounting ASM diskgroup

    982874
      Hi ,

I am maintaining a database which is running in 4 nodes with ASM, Now i would like to dismount ASM diskgroup in all the 4 nodes. Please suggest the below procedure is correct.

      My database version is *10.2.0.4.0*

first i have shutdown the databases giving srvctl command in one node then the commnad makes the database shutdown in all the 4 nodes
Command : srvctl stop database -d databasename

Now the problem here is dropping the ASM diskgroup.

i logged into first node and gave alter diskgroup diskgroupname dismount and it got dismounted my doubt is whether i need to give the same in all the 4 nodes to dismount ASM ?

      Thanks.

Run the command on each node where ASM instance was running.

              Hello,

All mount & dismount command if you are firing from any node using any tool (ASMCMD/ASMCA/SQLPLUS) only affects current instance not others that's why you'll have to fire same command from all the machines.

              See the sample DEMO:

              FROM HOST01:_

              ASMCMD> lsdg
              State Type Rebal Sector Block AU Total_MB Free_MB Req_mir_free_MB Usable_file_MB Offline_disks Voting_files Name
              MOUNTED  EXTERN  N         512   4096  1048576     11742    11643                0           11643              0             N  ABC/

              ASMCMD>

              FROM HOST02:_

              ASMCMD> lsdg
              State Type Rebal Sector Block AU Total_MB Free_MB Req_mir_free_MB Usable_file_MB Offline_disks Voting_files Name
              MOUNTED  EXTERN  N         512   4096  1048576     11742    11643                0           11643              0             N  ABC/

              ASMCMD>

              FROM HOST01:_

              ASMCMD> umount ABC
              ASMCMD>
              ASMCMD>
              ASMCMD>
              ASMCMD> lsdg

              ASMCMD>

              FROM HOST02:_

              ASMCMD> lsdg
              State Type Rebal Sector Block AU Total_MB Free_MB Req_mir_free_MB Usable_file_MB Offline_disks Voting_files Name
              MOUNTED  EXTERN  N         512   4096  1048576     11742    11643                0           11643              0             N  ABC/
              MOUNTED NORMAL N 512 4096 1048576 15656 10661 1259 4701 0 N DATA/
              MOUNTED EXTERN N 512 4096 1048576 15656 13874 0 13874 0 N FRA/
              ASMCMD>

Optionally you can do one more thing: start ASMCA and dismount from all the instances by right clicking on the dishgroup name that you want to dismount and select "dimount on all nodes"
