End of blog post Doug mention there is ready plugin provided by APEX team
Find Notification plugin from below link
My Blog: http://dbswh.webhop.net/htmldb/f?p=BLOG:HOME:0
When you unzip file you have readme and there is:
HOW TO USE ========== 1. Install the plug-in (see INSTALLATION) 2. Create a new dynamic action 3. Use the "Advanced Wizard" 4. Select the plug-in "Notification" as action 5. Follow the wizard and use Item Level Help to get more information about the purpose and usage of the different settings. Note that you can also update existing dynamic actions to use this new item-type, once installed.
I never worked with that plug-in but by quick view I think that is one way how to achieve this:
1. create hidden item on your page where you want to have notification
2. set some value (something you want) to that item (when branch, on page load, ...)
3. in notification text put &item_name. or #item_name# for text and that should work.
I'm using the notification plugin for the success message, not the error messages that are usually unsuitable for that.
Implementation of the success message requires:
a page zero hidden item called P0_NOTIFICATION_MSG
a page-zero dynamic action firing on Page Load
the plugin text attribute containing #P0_NOTIFICATION_MSG# as text
an application process (shared components) running Before Header containing:
:P0_NOTIFICATION_MSG := apex_application.g_print_success_message;
This should do the trick (or so it did for me), hopefully I didn't forget anything else.
