Dear All,

We are in the process of upgrading r11.5.10.2 to R12.1 . Part of the upgrade , I need to layout the new file system in the new app server. Our DB is in RAC and how do I enter RAC related details when laying out the file system as there is no provision for it

Please advise

Do the upgrade on a single instance then add the other instances.

Using Oracle 11g Release 2 Real Application Clusters with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 [ID 823587.1]

    Thanks,

For adpatch to connect to a single instance use:

Workaround (note PATCHNSN is a sample Net Service Name) :

    1.
Create a custom TNS alias in the $TNS_ADMIN/<sid>_<host>_ifile.ora :
(replace host.domain, port-nr and instance1 with the actual values)
    PATCHNSN=
    (DESCRIPTION=
    (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=host.domain)(PORT=port-nr))
    (CONNECT_DATA=(SID=instance1))
    )

    2.
Before each adpatch, and after having run the Applications environment file, set the TWO_TASK environment variable to point to the alias created in step 1:
    export TWO_TASK=PATCHNSN

    Ronald,

Did you try any R12 upgrade on RAC? I tried it and I wasn't happy with the performance, my upgrade driver finished faster on a single instance.

Adpatch Fails With ORA-12505 Error In RAC Environment On R12 [ID 742371.1]

    Thanks,

    Hi Hussein,

Yes, but I think the perormance depends at the type of hardware you are using to Apply.
