OPMN Process Manager failed to start. - Help Requested

    460884
      O/S: SuSE Enterprise Server 9

Situation: Running basic installation for OracleAS Portal. During the setting up or the infrastructure, I get the error

"The OPMN Process Manager failed to start. Please check the logs in the /home/oracle/product/10.1.2/OracleAS/infra/opmn/logs directory for the cause of failure. Once the cause of failure has been remedied, start OPMN manually and click Retry."

When looking in the above log file location, the log file is empty.

I attempted to start OPMN manually as the oracle user by running opmnctl start, and get the following error:

"Failed to get IP for linux (1)"
"Failed to get IP for linux (1)"
"Failed to get IP for linux (1)"
      "opmnctl: opmn start failed"

Does anyone have any suggestions relating to this? Help greatly appreciated.
