    Confusion with installed Oracle Database Edition

    Krishna

      Hello Experts,

      Greetings !

      I have installed Oracle 11.2.0.3 RAC  over RHEL 6.4. While Installing Oracle Database I selected the Standard Edition but after completion when logged into SQL Prompt, it showed me the "Enterprise Edition". I am really confused and really not getting what went wrong into it.

      Please guide.

      Thnks & Bst Rgds,

      Kapil Relan

                  I am sorry for delayed response.

                  How did you install Oracle database using DBCA or manually?

                    I don't see "Enterprise Edition" after login.

                    Standart Edition supports up to 4 1-CPU (or 2x2-CPU) nodes RAC configuration, therefore you see enterprise options.

                      Hi,

                      You can grep the db_InstallType from globalvariables.xml to find Grid or Database binaries edition as shown in below example.

                      [grid11@server1 oracle.crs]$ cat /oracle/app1/11.2.0/grid_2/inventory/globalvariables/oracle.crs/globalvariables.xml |grep db_InstallType

                      <VAR NAME="oracle_install_db_InstallType" TYPE="STRING" VALUE="EE" ADVISE="T" COMPUTE_AT_CLONE="F" CALC_REQD="F" class="oracle.sysman.oii.oiis.OiisVariable" EXTENDS_FROM="" ALLOW_A

                      SSIGNMENT="T" HANDLE_ERRORS="F" VAL_REQD="F" SECURE="F" SUPPRESS_ON_SILENT="F" DESC_ID=""/>

                      [grid11@server1 oracle.crs]$ cat /oracle/app1/oracle/product/11.2.0/db_2/inventory/globalvariables/oracle.server/globalvariables.xml |grep db_InstallType

                      <VAR NAME="oracle_install_db_InstallType" TYPE="STRING" VALUE="EE" ADVISE="T" COMPUTE_AT_CLONE="F" CALC_REQD="F" class="oracle.sysman.oii.oiis.OiisVariable" EXTENDS_FROM="" ALLOW_A

                      SSIGNMENT="T" HANDLE_ERRORS="F" VAL_REQD="F" SECURE="F" SUPPRESS_ON_SILENT="F" DESC_ID=""/>

                      Thanks
