Error when trying to create a HFM Application

    Alvaro Soares

      Hi All!!

I'm trying to create a HFM app and I'm getting the following error :

      Error 11; hypadmin; 06/19/2013 13:09:06; CHsxServerImpl.cpp; Line 8813; <?xml version="1.0"?>

      <EStr><Ref>{9AA6BAF5-7A3E-4A7D-AF7C-07822F266304}</Ref><AppName/><User/><DBUpdate>1</DBUpdate><ESec><Num>-2147467259</Num><Type>1</Type><DTime>6/19/2013 1:08:48 PM</DTime><Svr>RJ1-2K8-BI-P06</Svr><File>HfmADOConnection.cpp</File><Line>591</Line><Ver></Ver><DStr>ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified</DStr></ESec><ESec><Num>-2147215616</Num><Type>1</Type><DTime>6/19/2013 1:08:48 PM</DTime><Svr>RJ1-2K8-BI-P06</Svr><File>CHsxSQLConnectionPool.cpp</File><Line>585</Line><Ver></Ver></ESec><ESec><Num>-2147215936</Num><Type>0</Type><DTime>6/19/2013 1:08:57 PM</DTime><Svr>RJ1-2K8-BI-P06</Svr><File>CHsxServerImpl.cpp</File><Line>8813</Line><Ver></Ver></ESec></EStr>

However, the TNSPING is ok and the lsnrctl status too.

I've already set the database according to Installation and Configuration guide and don't know what else I can do.

Please, someone could help me on that ?

The error log is highlighting the problem

ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified

Is Oracle installed on the same machine, if so you may need to update the tnsnames.ora

Have a look at the environment variable TNS_ADMIN, it might be pointing to <MIDDLEWARE_HOME>\user_projects\config\dbclient

If it is open tnsnames.ora and check it contains   HFMTNS =....

Open the tnsnames.ora for the main oracle database e.g. <drive>\Oracle\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\NETWORK\ADMIN\tnsnames.ora and copy the entries to the EPM tnsnames.ora

            Hi John,

Sorry, but i did not get to follow you.

The Oracle DB Server is at another machine and on the server where the EPM is, I've installed a Oracle client 64 bits.

Also at the client side has already an environment variable TNS_ADMIN point to C:\Oracle\OracleClient\product\11.2.0\client_1\network\admin

But at this same server  I've found another TNSNAMES.ORA at folder :

and this file has the HFMTNS entry.

Are you meaning that the environment variable TNS_ADMIN should point to this folder ? (C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\config\dbclient) and the entry HFMTNS  from client should be at TNSNAMES.ORA on the server side ?

              Hi John,

I've updated my TNSNAMES.ora from client and server and now it's working fine.
