Hello. I am installing PeopleTools 8.53 Internet Architecture. Database Server is Oracle Dabase 11gR1. OS is Oracle Linux 5.

I have installed JDK7, WebLogic 10.3.6, Tuxedo 11gR1 and PeopleTools 8.53 successfully. But when set up PeopleTools8.53 Database in the way as below,
I get an error message and cannot proceed.

You must run psconfig.sh (. ./psconfig.sh) under your PS_HOME directory before
starting the Database Configuration Wizard.

As you see the above, I have run ./psconfig.sh in the directory /opt/PT8.53 and then run ./setup.sh in the directory /opt/PT8.53/setup/PsMpDbInstall.
but get the error message:

"You must run psconfig.sh (. ./psconfig.sh) under your PS_HOME directory before starting the Database Configuration Wizard."

I have run the 2 commands ./psconfig.sh and ./setup.sh in root but get the same error message.

My question is: Does PeopleTools8.53 Linux Version have a problem ? How to solve the issue ?

Thanks.

The error is worded poorly but still, you didn't do what it asked either.

    You must run psconfig.sh (. ./psconfig.sh) under ......
    The error should actually read

    You must SOURCE psconfig.sh....

You ran the script psconfig.sh, you did not source it.  Running and Sourcing are not the same.  Running will spawn a new sub shell to execute the script.  Therefore you effectively set all the psconfig.sh environment variables on a shell that immediately terminated.  Sourcing on the other hand executes those commands within the existing shell thus setting the environment variables you desire in the shell you are currently using.  Feel free to google it if want a more technical/detailed explanation.

    The difference is ./psconfig.sh and . ./psconfig.sh

Yes, I'm emphasizing period space period slash psconfig.sh

Also you could take a look at my notes of a recent 8.53 installed I did.  I also used the DB Wizard, which can be a challenge for newbies. http://remotepsadmins.com/2013/05/02/hcm-9-2-and-8-53-demo-install-notes/.  Nicolas has some similar posts on issues you may run into with the Wizard and in general has more detailed install guides.  Mine is not a guide, it's just a copy of the notes I took/used to do the install.  Here's the link to Nicolas's post which is a bit older but not much has changed there. http://gasparotto.blogspot.com/2009/12/db-wizard-850-for-oracle-on-linux.html

In addition of what Randy said above, I would strongly advise do not use DB Wizard, it is just a pain and does not offer that much of advantages. The link to my test given by Randy was just for testing purpose of the DBWizard.

If you ever have difficulties or not sure how to create the database, just create a default one within the Oracle tool DBCA (it will create everything for you) and use it as a Peoplesoft database. You can then follow the steps of the database creation from the Peopletools Installation Guide (don't run createdbxx.sql, don't run catalog and catproc from utlspace.sql).

Of course, it is only valid for a personal use or demo. If you want a production one, better to go for a manual db creation.

    Nicolas.

    Folks,

Hello. Thanks a lot for replying.

. ./psconfig.sh has gone through. Now, I get new issues as below:

    [root@localhost PsMpDbInstall]# ./setup.sh

The installation of Peoplesoft Database Configuration is complete, but some

As you see the entire installation process above, the Installer cannot initialize Data Mover. I have run dbsetup.dms seperately, it cannot run. The 2 files psdmtx and parm1 cannot run.

    My questions are:

First, how to get to Data Mover Bootstrap mode at this point of the installation so that import data into Database Instance ?

Second, how to view Oracle database instances in Oracle Database Server so that make sure Database instance PT853 is created ?

    Thanks.

    1. From the same session can you try running tmadmin -v and paste the output?

    2. ps -ef|grep smon will show you the currently running instances

To make sure you are on the right instance do echo $ORACLE_SID

    3. Check the log files in PS_HOME/logs to find if createdb10.sql has gone through fine.

    Nicolas and folks,

Hello. Thanks a lot for replying.

Becaue PeopleTools 8.53 DB Wizard is not working, I have tried to use DBCA to create PeopleTools 8.53 Database Instance in the Server. After step 15 of 15, DBCA is copying database file, up to 4%, DBCA cannot proceed, and entire OS Oracle Linux 5 becomes dead.  I have tried it 3 times and get the same problem.

The Dabase Server is 11gR1 running with Oracle Linux 5. My issues are:

First, does 11gR1 DBCA have a problem ?
Second, does Oracle Linux 5 have a problem because it's Open Source ?

Oracle Linux does not have a problem, and it is not open source.
